Sotto una Buona Stella (Under a Lucky Star): Chef Norbert Niederkofler

On Tuesday, November 21st experience the exceptional cuisine of 2 Michelin-starred Chef Norbert Niederkofler of Hotel & Spa Rosa Alpina located in the village of San Cassiano at the foot of the Italian Dolomite mountains, as he collaborates with Chef Rob Gentile.

After working closely with renowned chefs throughout Europe and the United States, Chef Niederkofler took the helm of Rosa Alpina's culinary operations as Executive Chef of St. Hubertus where he dedicated a small part of his menu to the local mountain range using only ingredients foraged from the Dolomites. His unique "Cook the Mountain" philosophy has garnered international attention and St. Hubertus was awarded its first Michelin star in 2000, followed by a second in 2007.

This will be the 9th dinner of the much sought-after series "Sotto una buona stella" (Under a lucky star) that began in 2015 and is presented by The King Street Food Company, the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura (IIC) and the Italian Trade Commission in partnership with George Brown College, Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts. This unique series brings some of Italy's top chefs to Toronto to present their food philosophy, engage students at George Brown College and to host a dinner with Chef Rob Gentile at Buca.

The upcoming dinner by Chef Norbert Niederkofler and Chef Rob Gentile is also a part of the World Week of Italian Cuisine, which aims to promote Italian culinary traditions and expertise as a distinctive element of Italian culture and identity.

The proceeds from this spectacular, one-time collaboration on November 21st continues to support scholarship funding for students at George Brown College Centre for Hospitality & Culinary Arts.
