Exams and Certifications
Exams and Certifications
Many of our students enjoy learning Italian for personal enrichment and do not want or need to be assessed. However, those who wish to be assessed and receive a certificate of proficiency need to inform us three weeks prior the end of the course. To qualify for a certificate of proficiency students must have attained a minimum of 80 % of class attendance.
CILS EXAMS (Italian as a Second Language Certificate)
Exams for the certification of Italian as a second language (CILS) take place at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura of Toronto. Exams, elaborated and corrected by instructors of the University for Foreigners of Siena, are held twice a year, in the months of June and December. CILS exams are based on four levels of difficulty. The certificates are recognised in Italy and UE countries, they allow foreign students who wish to attend a university on Italy, who have at least a second level, to avoid taking the admissions exam for proficiency in Italian. The certificate is also a valid document for employment in Italian or foreign firms who require knowledge of the Italian language. The Istituto Italiano di Cultura is not only the venue of the exam but it distributes the certificates to those who pass the exams. Enrolment to the exams is not limited to students of the Istituto. For fees please contact the Istituto. A 10% discount will be given to the students of the Istituto.
